摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the deterioration of emission luminance due to electron beams of high current density in a zinc sulfide phosphor used for a display device such as FED. SOLUTION: The phosphor for a display device has ZnS phosphor particles in which at least a part of the surface thereof is covered with a layer of In<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>. The method for producing such a phosphor comprises the steps of: adding a ZnS phosphor into an aqueous In salt solution to form an In(OH)<SB>3</SB>layer from the In salt on a surface of phosphor particles; and subjecting the phosphor to heat treatment (baking) to convert the In(OH)<SB>3</SB>layer to an In<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>layer.
