The method involves calculating an inverse of a transfer function of a transmission medium and optional deliberate terminal distortion based on an arbitrary data sequence and a data sequence as received from a terminal. A signal with a secret data sequence multiplied with the inverse of the transfer function is transmitted to the terminal over the medium to compensate for the medium and the terminal distortion. An independent claim is also included for a system for transmitting secret data in a communication network.
