PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make printing continuable while ensuring recording agent required for maintenance. SOLUTION: A print mode judging section 16 detects the residual quantities of black ink and color inks in a cartridge 40 loaded to a printer 2. When the residual quantity of black ink is lower than near end, a print data generating section 15 generates print data for printing an image or a text to be printed with black ink without using black ink but using color inks.
