Physical deacidification apparatus for removing carbon dioxide from water comprises a tower with a rectangular cross-section, down which water flows while compressed air is introduced from the base. The tower is divided into turbulence chambers (3 - 7) by sloping perforated plates (8) arranged in a zigzag fashion. Offset gaps between each plate and the tower wall form channels (9) for the water to flow through.
