摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffering device for an optical packet which can make the number of packets processed per unit time larger, and its buffering method. <P>SOLUTION: The device is for inputting a variable-length packet which is transmitted with a plurality of light paths and asynchronously reaches, and for outputting it to a small number of the light paths. The device is a control device which decides a delay element for temporarily storing by calculation by using a delay value of the delay element, the read optical packet length, and the optical packet preposing period so that the optical packet signal is not superposed in the light paths for outputting. A plurality of computing units are arranged in a multi-stage manner as shown in the figure. The device is so constituted that the processing required for the decision of a delay time is executed with parallel processing by using the calculation result, in which prefix sum operation is made into a parallel pipeline, and the queue length, the optical packet length, and the optical packet preposing period of the buffering device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
