PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress looseness to be generated in a carriage, in an image forming device provided with the carriage to operate in the state where it is arranged on a guide shaft. SOLUTION: In a multi-functional device 1, the vertical position of the joining part of the carriage and a timing belt 14 is determined such that the carriage 10 is not lifted more than 20μm from the guide shaft 11 in a relationship with a center of gravity of the carriage 10, when the carriage 10 is pulled by the timing belt 14. The vertical position of the joining part is nearly the same as that of the center of gravity G of the carriage 10. More concretely, the vertical position satisfies a relationship of Gv-8[mm]≤Pv≤Gv, wherein the position of center of gravity of the carriage 10 is Gv, and the position of the joining part is Pv.
