The method uses cooled air blown onto the printer. After contacting the surface of the sheet-conveying cylinder (2) the cooled air is supplied at least in part to a pneumatic sheet guide device (12,13,14). Independent claim describes cooling device where at least one air cooler (11) is assigned to the blower (10) and the cooling air stream of each blower is directed onto the surface of at least one sheet-conveying cylinder. The suction zone of at least one pneumatic sheet guide device is mounted in the cooling air stream flowing back from the surface of the sheet conveying cylinder.
