A connecting chain (E) is secured to the clothing at one end and to a bracket (D) at the other end. The bracket forms part of a pipe (F) which can be rotated relative to a bar (C) for hanging clothes from. The pipe can be rotated into a closed position in which the bracket extends into a cavity in the pipe, preventing the chain from being removed from the rack and therefore preventing the clothing being removed from the same rack. The pipe can be rotated so that the bracket drops out of the bar, enabling the chain to be removed from the bracket.
