SOOT REMOVING STICK NOT MOLTEN BY HEAT SOURCE FOR DEPOSITION IN MCVD PROCESS FOR PRODUCING OPTICAL FIBER PREFORM AND SOOT REMOVING APPARATUS USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A soot removing stick is provided, which is not molten by a heat source for deposition, therefore can discharge silica soot smoothly in a modified chemical vapor deposition(MCVD) process for producing an optical fiber preform. And a soot removing apparatus using the soot removing stick is also provided. CONSTITUTION: The whole soot removing stick or a part(heated by the heat source for deposition) of the soot removing stick is made of a ceramic, wherein the ceramic has a melting point of 1600-2300deg.C and a resistance to a temperature change of more than 400deg.C by the heat source. And the soot removing apparatus contains: the soot removing stick(25) being in contact with the inner wall of an inner tube(20) for discharge, wherein the apex of the soot removing stick(25) is located at a soot inlet hole; a rotation means(30) rotating the soot removing stick(25) around a long axis to scrape the soot of the inner wall of the inner tube(20) off.
