摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent excessive increase in the damping force to the high frequency input in a hydraulic damper to control the damping force by utilizing a rod seal. SOLUTION: A space between a rod guide 19 and a cylinder 2 is sealed by an O-ring 25, and a space between the cylinder and a piston rod 9 is sealed by a seal ring 26 and a backup ring 27 to form a pressure chamber 23 between the rod guide 19 and a rod seal 21. A cylinder top chamber 7A and the pressure chamber 23 are communicated with each other by a throttle passage 30. A main lip 34 is pressed against the piston rod 9 by applying the internal pressure in the pressure chamber 23 to a pressure-receiving part 34a of the main lip 34, and the damping force is controlled by the friction thereof. Since the dynamic pressure generated in the cylinder top chamber 7A to the high frequency input in the piston rod 9 is hardly transmitted to the pressure chamber 23 by the throttle passage 30, the increase of the internal pressure in the pressure chamber 23 is suppressed, excessive increase of the damping force can be prevented, and ride quality of a vehicle can be enhanced.
