摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more accurate demodulating position in a method for demodulating the head position from the two phase servo signals of PosN and PosQ. SOLUTION: Saturation is determined from a comparison of absolute values between PosN and PosQ, demodulation systems different between saturated and unsaturated sections are introduced, and the demodulation system is constructed such that adjacent demodulated sections and ends coincide with each other at the ends of the demodulated sections. Thus, a more accurate demodulating position is obtained since an optimal expression is selected according to saturation/nonsaturation. The absolute values of the PosN and the PosQ are compared with each other, and saturation/nonsaturation is determined depending on whether the ratio is larger/smaller than a predetermined saturation coefficient (r). Thus, no prior measurement is necessary for position sensitivity, and saturation is correctly determined even when a track to which the detected PosN and PosQ actually belongs is unknown.
