A fuel fired burner, e.g. for burning off collected carbon from an exhaust filter, has a burn chamber lined with heat resistant walls and fed with a fuel and air mixture. The air is pre-heated by passing through a pre-heating space either at the end (38) of the burn chamber, and/or through a concentric jacket (56) around the burn chamber. The airflow is controlled through the pre-heating spaces for improved efficiency. |
