PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein durability of a polymer fuel cell system repeating start-up and stop is greatly deteriorated as compared with continuous operation.
SOLUTION: At start-up, hydrogen gas is supplied to an anode after enough humidified air is supplied to a cathode of a fuel cell for power generation. Further, at the stop of operation, supply of the hydrogen gas is stopped, and after it is exhausted, supply of the humidified air to the anode is stopped. Thus, during existence of the hydrogen gas in the fuel cell, a whole polymer electrolyte existing in the electrodes are to be kept in a wet condition. With this, decomposition of the polymer electrolyte is restrained.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
