PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the serviceability of an information display control device such as an electronic dictionary, when it is controlled to search keywords stored in collective information such as a dictionary for keywords partially different from the character string of a search word and to display the results. SOLUTION: The information display control device is so formed that when an English-dictionary key 35b is depressed to designate a spellcheck search method, a CPU 100 refers to a fuzzy search rule table 506 and, based on the range of keyword character numbers corresponding to the number of characters of a search word and the permissible number of wrong characters, searches for and displays a list of keyword candidates having partially different and same points as the search word. When a search rule change key 32 is depressed after the list of keyword candidates is displayed, the CPU 100 accepts the operations of varying the range of keyword character numbers and the permissible number of wrong characters. Depending on the operations of varying them, the CPU 100 updates the fuzzy search rule table 506 and re-executes a first spellcheck search process to display a list of keyword candidates retrieved.
