METHOD FOR WHITE-BALANCING IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately white-balancing digital images containing a human facial region.

SOLUTION: A method 300 for white-balancing the images may include a step 304 of determining the location of the human facial region within the image. Additionally, the method may include a step 306 of determining skin color of the human facial region. The method also may include a step 310 of determining a correction factor to change the skin color to substantially match a known range of skin colors. Furthermore, the method may include a step 312 of applying the correction factor to the image to provide white balancing.
