PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge whether or not real time reproduction of video data upon after-recording is available. SOLUTION: In step S1, continuous reproduction time Tcr is calculated. The continuous reproduction time Tcr means a time required for outputting all of the determination units from a buffer. In step S2, required recording period of time Taw including the time required to alter the state of a pickup from a readout state to a write state and the time required to alter the same from the write state to the readout state is calculated.
