PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the simplification of structure, miniaturization, cost reduction, shortening of warm-up time and suppression of the deformation of an ejected sheet material in a thermal roll type fixing device. SOLUTION: A fixing device which fixes an unfixed toner image formed on a sheet material and is mounted on an image forming apparatus is provided with: a thermal fixing roll 1; a pressing roll 2 pressed to the thermal fixing roll 1; a heat resistant belt 3 wound on the outer circumference of the pressing roll 2 and moved by being held between the pressing roll 2 and the thermal fixing roll 1; and a belt support member 4 to support the heat resistant belt 3. The belt support member 4 is constituted of a sliding member where the center part is deflected in a reversed crown shape to both end parts when the heat resistant belt 3 is supported at both ends parts and tension is imparted to the heat resistant belt 3 between the belt support member 4 and the pressing roll 2 and the heat resistant belt 3 slides thereon. A fixing nip is formed by winding the heat resistant belt to the thermal fixing roll 1, so that the end parts of the heat resistant belt 3 are brought into close contact with the belt support member 4.
