PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement compressor with a brush motor having an enhanced endurance.

SOLUTION: An air conditioner ECU controls the discharge capacity of a compression system 12 by activating a control valve CV to make the operation point of the compression system 12 converge on a low speed crossing of two crossings (the low speed crossing and a high speed crossing) of a torque-rotation speed characteristic line of the compression system 12 determined by a target refrigerant flow rate of a refrigeration cycle and a torque-rotation speed characteristic line of an electric motor 13 determined by a voltage applied on the electric motor 13.
