PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the discrimination precision of nondefective and defective containers. SOLUTION: This inspection device 100 includes an imaging camera 105 for inspecting a container 1. The container has a cylindrical mouth part and an almost polygonal columnar body part and characterized in that the outer shapes of both of the body part and an almost polygonal columnar lid almost coincide with each other in a state that the mouth part is closed by the lid and trough parts are formed to the mouth part corresponding to the forming positions of the polygonal sides of the body part while a large diameter part locked with the locking part provided to the lid in the state that the mouth part is closed by the lid is formed to the mouth part. The camera takes an image including the trough parts and the large diameter part. The inspection device further includes a control device 106 for detecting the angle difference between a first axis corresponding to the arranging positions of the trough parts in the image and the second axis corresponding to the arranging position of the large diameter part in the image and discriminating whether the shift of the forming position of the large diameter part to the forming positions of the trough parts in the peripheral direction of the mouth part is within a predetermined range, on the basis of the angle difference.
