PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sizing device for detecting the height etc. of a push pin supporting arm which horizontally swings to finish an optical element, such as a lens, so as to have a definite thickness. SOLUTION: The height of the push pin supporting arm 13 for supporting a push pin 11 gradually decreases with the decrease of the thickness of the optical element W<SB>1</SB>due to machining. The projected length of a probe 32a is preliminarily determined by means of a length measuring machine 32 using a master having the target thickness after machining. When a detecting member 36 has arrived at a sensor 35a of a detector 35 by being pushed down by the probe 32a, a signal for stopping the machining operation is generated. Then, a motor 3 for driving a lower shaft and a motor 17 for swinging the pin supporting arm 13 are stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
