PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image distortion correction apparatus for correcting the local distortion caused at upper / lower ends of a screen or a corner part by providing a 2-pole electromagnetic coil to a cathode ray tube and to provide a display apparatus. SOLUTION: The image distortion correction apparatus is provided with: the 2-pole electromagnetic coil horizontally fitted to a neck part of the cathode ray tube; a timing generating means for generating a timing signal synchronously with a horizontal / vertical synchronizing signal for deflecting an electron beam; a storage means for storing distortion correction data corresponding to the upper / lower end position and the corner part of the screen; and a current conversion means for reading the distortion correction data synchronously with the timing signal from the timing generating means and generating a distortion correction waveform current supplied to the 2-pole electromagnetic coil on the basis of the read distortion correction data.
