<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of coloration around a point light source of a light guide plate constituting a surface light source device. <P>SOLUTION: A point light source 42 using an LED or the like is disposed at an edge of a light guide plate 43. On a surface opposite to a light emission surface 60 of the guide plate 43, multiple deflection patterns 59 each formed into a cross-sectionally triangular shape are arranged, and light entered into the guide plate 43 is emitted from the emission surface 60 by reflecting it by the deflection patterns.
