PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support for a stencil of thermosensitive stencilling which prevents an image from deteriorating due to fiber dislocation and imparts a clear image while reducing an ink disposal amount during plate ejection, and to provide the stencil. SOLUTION: The support for a stencil of thermosensitive stencilling is a nonwoven fabric support whose basis weight is 2 to 7 g/m<SP>2</SP>. The constituent fiber of the nonwoven fabric support is a synthetic fiber with a circle equivalent diameter of not more than 10 μm. In addition, the synthetic fiber contains the regular fiber which does not deform thermally during manufacturing nonwoven fabric and a binder fiber which deforms thermally and intertwines fibers during manufacturing the nonwoven fiber. Further, the synthetic fiber contains 50 to 95 mass% of the binder fiber with a ratio of the circle equivalent diameter (the regular fiber/the binder fiber) of the regular fiber to the binder fiber falling within the range of 0.5 to 2.0.
