<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclone type foreign matter separator with which the foaming of a purified coolant can be prevented without using dedicated antifoaming agents and foaming suppressors. <P>SOLUTION: This separator comprises a clean chamber (30) where a clean liquid coolant is introduced into the upper end of a cyclone body (20). A gas-liquid separation tube (33) formed on the central line of the axis of the cyclone body and into which an eddy flows in is arranged at the clean chamber. The eddy comprises a columnar air layer (44) rising toward the clean chamber and a clean coolant layer (45) ascending along the circumferential face of the air layer (44). A first storage part (36) surrounding a gas-liquid separation tube and temporarily storing the coolant passed through the gas-liquid separation tube, a second storage part (37) temporarily storing the coolant flowing-in from the first storage part, and a coolant outlet (41) are formed on the bottom part of the clean chamber.
