PURPOSE: Provided are an arylpyridine-iridium metal complex compound for an organic electroluminescent device, which improves the luminous efficiency and increases the operation life and the stability of the device. CONSTITUTION: The arylpyridine-iridium metal complex compound is represented by the formula 1 and is prepared by the method comprising the steps of: reacting an arylpyridine compound of the formula 2 with IrCl3*xH2O or Na3IrCl6*xH2O(wherein x is 1 to 10) to obtain a precursor; and reacting the precursor with a compound of the formula 3. In the formulas 1-3, each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is independently a linear or branched C1-C10 alkyl, a C1-C10 alkoxy, a halogen, a substituted or non-substituted C5-C18 aromatic group, a C5-C18 cycloalkyl or a 5- to 18-membered aromatic heterocyclic group, A is a linear or branched C1-C18 alkyl, a substituted or non-substituted C5-C18 aromatic group, a C5-C18 cycloalkyl or a 5- to 18-membered aromatic heterocyclic group, Ar is a substituted or non-substituted C5-C18 cycloaromatic group or a 5- to 18-membered aromatic heterocyclic group. |
