MAGNETIC HEAD AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer type magnetic head which has good high-frequency characteristics, narrow tracks having no recording fringes and is compatible with high frequencies. SOLUTION: Both side faces of a metal magnetic film are held between a pair of nonmagnetic substrates, the surface of the metal magnetic film is set roughly in parallel to the sliding direction of a magnetic head, and the positions of both end surfaces of the metal magnetic film facing each other through a magnetic cap are shifted from each other in a track width direction. A tape sliding surface is cut from both side faces of a magnetic core to both ends of the magnetic gap part to cut into the side face of the core, thereby forming a track width regulation groove. The positions of the deepest parts of both track width regulation grooves in a track width direction are set roughly symmetrical to each other by separating them by a predetermined distance from the magnetic gap.
