PROFILED STEEL DECKING SHEETS

A method of manufacturing profiled decking sheets that have at least one open rib separated by pans on a roll forming line. The decking sheets are of a type that are suitable for use as formwork in the construction of composite concrete slabs is disclosed. The method includes roll-forming flat steel stip to form ribs separated by pans and thereafter cutting/shearing the profiled strip into lengths. The method is characterised by of inserting lengths of a plug material into at least one roll-formed rib at locations that coincide with the locations for cutting/shearing the profiled strip so that the plug material span the cutting/shearing locations and closes the ends of the ultimately formed sheets. A roll-forming line and a decking sheet having plugged ends are also disclosed.
