PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicular internal combustion engine capable of suitably inhibiting generation of travel driving fore which an operator does not intend right after reset of fuel cut accompanying with execution of throttle valve opening control during deceleration fuel cut. SOLUTION: The vehicular internal combustion engine 10 is provided with a variable lift mechanism 50 capable of varying valve lift amount of an intake valve 21. An electronic control device 25 executes opening control to control opening of a throttle valve 16 more open side than target opening at a time of normal accelerator shut off during deceleration fuel cut. The electronic control device 25 quickly reduces intake air quantity increased by opening control with using the variable lift mechanism 50 capable of adjusting intake air quantity in a short period of time as compared with the throttle valve 16, when throttle valve opening control is executed at a time of fuel cut reset request.
