An annular chamber Z surrounding a central perforate tube 8 contains a first filter medium 1, e.g. granular activated carbon; this is surrounded by an outer annular element 2 made of a second filter medium, e.g. pleated paper; and at least one end of there is arranged an annular element e.g. 3 or 3<SP>1</SP> of a third filter medium, e.g. felt: the arrangement is such that liquid flows through the second and first media in series, and simultaneously through the third and first media in series. In use in a dry cleaning process, for filtering the liquid used therein, the activated carbon medium 1 also contains granular magnesium or calcium silicate. The end caps 10, 11 are secured by press-fits.</p> |
