Apparatus and method for inserting a splint into an opening of a tensioning lever and splintband therefor

The split-pin is fitted into an opening of a clamping lever of a clamping ring to close a container with lid. The device has an advance unit (7) to move a band (13) consisting of several connected split-pins, resp. to fit a split-pin detached from the band, into the opening. It also has a cutter unit (19) to separate a split-pin from the band. Band or individual split-pin are moved in an advance/guide channel. The advance unit consists of a liner drive, e.g. a pneumatic cylinder (8), and a contact part (10) engaging on the band. The cutter unit has a cutting blade (20) in a crank element (23). The split-pin band is fabricated from a plastic tape using s punching/roller punching tool, has a length of 50-150m, pref. mainly 100m, and can be rolled up.
