PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal having a balance display function and a control method therefor are provided to confirm a balance always and suitably adjust a traffic by subtracting a calculated calling charge from an amount of the total call possible money and displaying the calculated balance. CONSTITUTION: A key input unit(212) has a plurality of numeric keys, a call key and an end key. A counter(214) receives a driving signal, and counts and accumulates a traffic. A program memory unit(210) has a balance calculation program for calculating a calling charge using the traffic and calculating the balance using the calling charge. If a call signal is received, a microprocessor(220) generates and transmits the driving signal. If the calling is ended, the microprocessor(220) generates a driving stop signal, transmits the generated driving stop signal to the counter(214), and controls the balance calculation program. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) unit(213) displays the traffic and the balance. An SIM(Subscriber Identity Module)(216) receives the traffic, the calling charge and the balance from the balance calculation program, and stores the received them.
