PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an editing device and an editing method capable of erasing a scene, which a user considers to be unnecessary, completely in VR format, and having no fear of an unnecessary scene outputted after the conversion of DVD-Video format. SOLUTION: Whether a pointer for indicating a period, which a user considered to be unnecessary, is specified in a first unit of period out of video image information recorded in a first recording format or not is detected. A period of video image information including the detected first unit of video image information is deleted by the first unit, and then the video image information is converted into a second recording format.
