<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a coil shape carbon material expected to be applied as an electromagnetic wave absorber, an electrode material as an electric field electron emitting source of a device such as a field emission display (FED), an electrode material for a lithium secondary battery, a composite base material, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A process for manufacturing carbon by decomposing a raw material containing an aromatic hydrocarbon, a linear saturated hydrocarbon, a linear unsaturated hydrocarbon, a cyclic saturated hydrocarbon or an alcohol is carried out at 400-900°C under 0.3-60.0 MPa in the coexistence of a transition metal or a transition metallic compound and a metal oxide magnetic body as a catalyst, in the coexistence of a transition metal or a transition metallic compound and an oxide semiconductor as a catalyst, in the coexistence of a transition metal or a transition metallic compound and sulfur or a sulfur compound as a catalyst or in the coexistence of a transition metal or a transition metallic compound and phosphorus or a phosphorus compound as a catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
