PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink capable of providing an image having a high O. D. (optical density) and suppressed color mixing (bleeding) at a boundary portion between color images when recording a color image in which areas of different colors are adjacent to each other by simplifying ink components of a pigment ink and by eliminating as much as possible dependence of the components on external factors to suppress a detrimental effect caused by a combined action or the like.

SOLUTION: The aqueous ink comprises at least water, a water-soluble organic solvent and a colorant, wherein the colorant comprises a pigment containing a pigment particle having at least one ionic group bonded to a surface of the pigment particle directly or via another atomic group, the organic solvent completely or substantially undergoes no solvation with the pigment and the surface ionic group of the pigment particle completely or substantially undergoes no ion dissociation in the organic solvent.
