<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the effects of an optical phase conjugator by using a frequency shift for inverting a frequency sequence of a channel in a multichannel communication system. <P>SOLUTION: The effects of the optical phase conjugator are accompanied with a frequency shift with reversal of the frequency order of channels in a multichannel communication system. The above effects are rectifiable by using a sequence including the demultiplexing the multichannel signal, operating on the individual, demultiplexed channel with a corresponding optical phase conjugator or frequency shifter followed by multiplexing the signal. This sequence is obtained by binding a complementary operation, an optical phase conjugator complementary to a frequency shift sequence or frequency shifting complementary to an optical phase conjugating sequence. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
