In the sulfur recovering part 110, the hydrogen sulfide-containing gas and an oxygen-containing gas are introduced into the reaction combustion furnace 2 to be subjected to a thermal Claus reaction, the reaction gas is cooled to separate elementary sulfur, the cooled gas after sulfur is removed is heated again to be subjected to a catalytic Claus reaction and the reaction gas is cooled to further separate elementary sulfur.
