<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium having a recording layer, by which favorable recording and reproduction is possible by laser with a wave length of 300-900 nm and which is suitable for ultra-high density recording, and a new phthalone base compound. <P>SOLUTION: This optical recording medium has (1) a recording layer including at least one kind of a compound having a pyrridine-(na)phthalone structure and (2) a compound represented by general formula (1) as one of structures interconvertible with the phthalone base compound, wherein a ring AR represents a substituted or non-substituted aromatic ring and R11-R14 represent substituent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
