<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image control method and an image forming apparatus in which gradation control for interpolation to obtain a value that is more approximate to an actual value can be exerted with a smaller number of patches and without complex calculations and image stabilization can be achieved. <P>SOLUTION: Polynomial interpolation of order determined in consideration of image gradation property is used for interpolation between reading data. Further, the number of the gradations of the image pattern is determined in order to use the polynomial interpolation of order determined in consideration of the image gradation property. In order to increase the accuracy of the polynomial interpolation, the output signal value of the image pattern is determined in numerical analysis, thereby increasing the accuracy of the gradation control and stabilizing an image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
