PURPOSE: A computer system for supporting hardware devices connected through the network and a method thereof are provided to handle the hardware devices connected to the network as a locally connected hardware device by detecting the hardware device connected on the network, generating a logical description of the connected device based on the information, and searching/installing a driver for the connected device. CONSTITUTION: A service listener(210) includes listening module components(212a,212b) and a device installer(218). The listening module components include instruction for receiving messages to appoint the hardware devices(200) on the network(202). The device installer includes the instructions for searching/installing the driver for the hardware device on the network. The service listener is implemented on a user mode.
