PURPOSE: A parking brake including a brake cable tension control mechanism is provided to reduce the number of parts and to facilitate assembling. CONSTITUTION: A parking brake including a brake cable tension control mechanism comprises a support member(10) including a ratchet part; a parking brake lever(20) rotatably mounted to the support member between a braking position and a braking release position; a braking pawl rotatably mounted to the brake lever; a gear part(3) including a first tooth part(3a) and a second tooth part(3b); a parking brake cable tension control pawl(5) rotatably mounted to the parking brake lever; a position-locking pawl(6) including a member(65) to be guided; a spool(2) including a cable-fixing part to which a parking brake cable(9) is fixed; and a guide unit(100) including a first guide part(100a) and a second guide part(100b) to which the member to be guided is guided. When the parking brake lever is situated at the braking position, the braking pawl is engaged with the ratchet part and the braking pawl prohibits rotation of the parking brake lever. If the parking brake lever starts to rotate toward the braking position from the braking release position, the member to be guided is guided along the second guide part. If the parking brake lever rotates at an angle exceeding a predetermined angle from the braking release position, the member to be guided is guided along the first guide part. If the member to be guided is guided along the first guide part, the position-locking pawl is engaged with the second tooth part and rotation of the gear part and the spool is prevented.
