PURPOSE: A flash device having an image recording function, an area monitoring system using the same and a method therefor are provided to accurately photograph and record an image of a certain area to which flash light is lighted using a portable flash. CONSTITUTION: A switch(102) generates a record command signal according to the operation of a user. A camera(106) photographs an image of an area to which the light of a bulb(208) is lighted in response to an operation control signal according to the record command signal. A microphone(108) inputs a peripheral sound in recording in response to the operation control signal according to the record command signal. A control block(104) generates the operation control signal, converts a video signal from the camera(106) and an audio signal from the microphone into digital data, and generates record reference information according to the recording. An encoding block(112) compresses the digital data according to a certain compression algorithm. A memory block(114) stores the compressed digital data together with record reference information as monitoring data.
