PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor that requires a reduced number of parts, is easy to machine, and enables cost reduction. SOLUTION: A rotor 32 is rotatably supported on the upper part of the shaft 12 secured on a bracket 18 through a pair of bearings 14 and 16, and further a stator 20 and rotor magnets 22 are arranged under the pair of the bearings 14 and 16 to form a spindle motor 10. In the spindle motor, the bracket 18 where an annular recessed portion 54 and an annular projected portion 45 are formed by pressing, which annular recessed portion 54 is recessed in the axial direction and for housing the stator 20 and the rotor magnets 22, and which annular projected portion 45 is protruded in the direction opposite to the annular recessed portion 54 in the axial direction and defines a cylindrical opening 52 in which the shaft 12 is fitted.
