In a glass feeding furnace arrangement as described in the parent Specification in which upper electrodes 24, 25 co-operating with a lower electrode 16 are connected in separate branches of a supply circuit including provision for voltage adjustment, thus enabling the current densities in the respective paths to be varied relatively, the upper electrodes 24, 25 each include an inner portion disposed in the feeding chamber below the minimum glass level therein and an outer portion extending through one of the walls of the chamber at a position below such glass level so that the electrode in each case is protected against oxidation by immersion in the glass. Each electrode 24, 25 passes through a sleeve (30) with cooling fins (31) (Fig. 4, not shown) seated in an aperture in the furnace wall, both the sleeve and the electrode being engaged by thrust members mounted on threaded support rods which enable the electrode to be adjusted in position or withdrawn for replacement leaving the sleeve in position.
