摘要 Sintered fuel cell nickel cathodes are made from a powder layer (1) of a mixture of 60-40% carbonyl nickel and 40-60% nickel carbonate and a powder layer (2) thinner than (1) and formed on top of (1) and consisting of 20-30% carbonyl nickel, 20-30% nickel carbonate and 60-40% of a pore former such as ammonium carbonate and sodium chloride, the powder layers being compacted together and sintered in hydrogen at 650 DEG -750 DEG C. The carbonyl nickel has a grain size of 2-5 microns and the ammonium carbonate a maximum size of 60 microns. The sintered cathode is boiled in an ammoniacal solution of silver carbonate and ammonium carbonate and then reduced to form silver at 150 DEG C. in hydrogen. Alternatively the silver carbonate may be cathodically reduced.
