New thiochromane derivatives and their use as thrombin inhibitors

Formula I (see below) is disclosed wherein Y represents S(O) or S(O)2, R1 represents halo and R2 represents H, halo or C1-4 alkoxy. The disclosed formula is useful as competitive inhibitors of trypsin-like proteases, such as thrombin, and in particular is useful in the treatment of conditions where inhibitors of thrombin is required (e.g. thrombosis) or as anticoagulants.
