PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the charging time of data on a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: On a transparent substrate, a plurality of pixels are arranged in matrix. Each pixel has a 1st switching element 311 and a 2nd switching element 312. The 1st switching element 311 is a thin film transistor having three terminals; and a gate terminal among the three terminals is connected to a scanning line and other two terminals are connected to a pixel electrode 314 and a data line 32 respectively. The 2nd switching element 312 also has three terminals; and a gate terminal among the three terminals is connected to a black select line 33 and other two terminals are respectively connected to the pixel electrode 314 and a common electrode 35.
