PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder capable of efficiently preventing occurrence of white lines due to variations of ink discharge and poor injection of ink from nozzles while maintaining quality of characters and fine lines. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder 10 comprises a main nozzle array 22Y in which a plurality of nozzles 21Y, which inject ink on a recording medium 11 to form images, are arranged in the direction perpendicular to the scanning direction X at a submultiple pitch of printing resolution, and a sub-nozzle array 32Y which is arranged in the scanning direction at the same pitch and injects the same ink, as in the main nozzle array. In a plurality of nozzle arrays arranged in the scanning direction, a nozzle 31Y in the sub-nozzle array corresponding to the nozzle position in the main nozzle array is arranged in a shifted position within a range of equal to or less than one-half of the pitch P of the printing resolution from the same line in the scanning direction.
