PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a direct conversion scheme from being affected by secondary distortion characteristics. SOLUTION: The radio equipment is provided with: a receiving part including a local oscillator for generating a reference signal of a frequency approximately equal with a central frequency of a high frequency signal, a phase shift means for obtaining first and second reference signals whose phases are mutually orthogonal, from the reference signal from the local oscillator, and first and second frequency converters for multiplying the high frequency signal and the reference signal from the local oscillator to obtain first and second baseband signals; a test signal generator for generating a test signal which is inputted to the receiving part to detect distortion; a switcher for switching inputs of a radio signal and the test signal; and a control circuit including functions for changing over the switcher, detecting a quantity of distortion from the signal from the receiving part, and performing a circuit change of the first and second frequency converters or of a peripheral circuit connected to the frequency converters within the receiving part in accordance with the detected result.
