<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having high energy density, restraining degradation of discharge capacity, and keeping high capacity, in particular, even in high-rate discharge. <P>SOLUTION: A composite oxide which is a lithium-nickel composite oxide having a hexagonal structure and expressed by a composition formula Li<SB>a</SB>Ni<SB>1-b-c-d</SB>Co<SB>b</SB>Mn<SB>c</SB>Al<SB>d</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(wherein 0.05≤a≤1.20; 0.05≤b≤0.35; 0.01≤c≤0.35; and 0.01≤d≤0.15) with the tap density in the range of 1.6-3.0 g/ml is used as a positive electrode active material of this nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
