PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner supply roll providing uniform high definition image without unevenness in density. SOLUTION: In the toner supply roll provided with a metal core and an elastic body layer, a tool with a rectangular pressing plate which is 50 mm in length and with width greater than the maximum width of contact of the roll is prepared. After the pressing plate is pressed at a velocity of 10 mm/min in the center axis direction of the roll to a position in which the deformed amount is equivalent to 2 mm of the elastic body layer of the roll while maintaining the width direction center line of a pressing plate in parallel with the center axis of the roll, the pressing plate is immediately returned to its former position at the velocity of 10 mm/min. The load during this time is measured and when the load required for pressing the pressing plate to an extent that the deformed amount reaches equivalent to 1mm of the elastic body layer is Wp and load when reducing pressure is Wr, the difference in load Wd derived by the formula: Wd=Wp-Wr≤70 g.
